Feasibility Study: The Automated Method — 1st

Dec. 2017 — Entrepreneurs often face significant challenges when launching their business ventures, especially when these initiatives begin without structured planning. Such unstructured starts frequently lead to losses driven by poorly informed managerial decisions. This highlights the critical importance of feasibility studies—across administrative, market, and economic dimensions—as essential tools for mapping out a project’s path to success.

The feasibility study tool developed by Abdullah Al-Salloum—available free of charge at abdullah.kw/ar/tools—has contributed to clarifying vision for many entrepreneurs. However, users may still encounter challenges in fully utilizing its capabilities. This workshop is designed to bridge that gap by equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills needed to produce a professional feasibility study using the tool, through hands-on, applied guidance.

This workshop is offered free of charge as part of a broader social responsibility initiative involving all participants, including Gulf University for Science and Technology, which has generously provided its facilities and venue in support of this initiative.

Positives: diversity of ideas, mixing with people of different experience levels, and the fact that the course was free. Negatives: there was no educational material distributed to participants, and the details of the competition were not explained sufficiently.

Thank you for everything. 1) In our time, free services are often associated with low standards and inflated value, but this event overcame that challenge brilliantly, so congratulations. 2) The electronic service for booking, confirming attendance, and evaluation was elegant and convenient. 3) I would appreciate it if the names in the attendance sheet—and likewise the certificates—were arranged alphabetically to make the process easier and faster. 4) A salute to the skill in using time: the first day had only a few hours, but they were valuable. Thank you for the opportunity to meet the guests; the choices were excellent and the dialogue was intelligent. For women like us, these opportunities are golden because they allow us to access distilled experience and advice that is not always as available to us as it is to men. 5) The second day was good, though it involved more giving than receiving. I think it would have been richer—at least for me personally—if the groups had already tried the tool before, and if they had consisted of actual entrepreneurs with live projects or projects under development. Still, I remain grateful for the opportunity to interact, exchange benefit, and achieve something together with a cooperative, flexible, diligent, and active group. 6) Despite the noble and respectable intention of not spoon-feeding us, I wish the instructors’ interaction had been a little more generous—not to give us the answers, but to enlighten us so that we can learn here and reduce the cost of mistakes in the real field. 7) I prefer to learn from other people’s mistakes out of respect for our short lives, so I wish our mistakes and those of others had been discussed more clearly instead of only a quick general summary at the end. 8) I know we are asking for a lot, but I believe the event would have been even more useful if we had applied it directly to our own projects as one of the second-day stations. 9) The quality of the social service provided is an achievement and a virtue for which you deserve thanks.

The course was excellent, and the discussion with the participating instructors was enjoyable and enriching. The workshop itself was enjoyable, and the discussions with fellow participants were enjoyable as well. Best of luck.

Excellent, excellent, excellent. I cannot say enough how excellent it was. The only thing missing was giving us a corrected copy of the test feasibility study so we could know our mistakes and correct them.

In my view, considering the amount of time we worked and the fact that most of us were not specialists in accounting or economics—I personally work in the medical field—and despite all of that, I was part of Group Six, which won first place. I consider the workshop in all its aspects to have been more than wonderful, and the instructors did an excellent job. The only thing left is that the organizers should show us the weaknesses in our study so it can become stronger and more accurate. Thank you all.

Positives: interaction and good listening by the presenters. Negatives: random movement between topics on the first day, and lack of order in the groups on the second day, which reduced some of the workshop’s advantages. In the end, it was an effort worthy of thanks. May God give you health, and keep going.

Thank you for the excellent course. At first, I thought five hours would be long and boring, but the opposite happened—the discussion was enjoyable and effective. Positives: 1) the language of discussion was clear to everyone, 2) there was a detailed and precise explanation of the study as a whole, 3) there were many examples for every aspect of the study, and 4) the door for questions was always open. Negative: in my opinion, there should have been a dedicated question period during the second day of the workshop.

The workshop covered economic, organizational, and marketing aspects that went beyond a standard feasibility study. It summarized the fundamentals of choosing and starting successful business projects and ways to overcome the difficulties faced by investors and entrepreneurs by selecting the most suitable strategies at different project stages, avoiding mistakes, making use of available information, and benefiting from the analysis of purchasing patterns and market trends. It stood out for allowing attendees to ask any questions or raise any concerns that could help make their projects successful and expand their knowledge and experience. It ranged from pre-planned activities to spontaneous discussions, which made it a harmonious and enjoyable workshop. Blessed efforts, good organization, distinguished speakers, practical and simplified presentation, an aware and educated audience, and honorable performance. Thanks to everyone who was part of this event. Wishing you continued success and higher achievements.

First, thank you, Mr. Abdullah Al-Salloum, and thanks as well to Sultan Al-Majroob, Dr. Ali Al-Ansari, and Mr. Talal Al-Awadhi for the time and effort you gave us. This clearly reflects the social responsibility you always emphasize. On the positive side, it was undoubtedly a valuable addition for everyone who participated. On the negative side, from my point of view, it would have been better to reduce the number of participants in each group to a maximum of five so that research, communication, and benefit within the group would be faster and better, without getting lost in unnecessary arguments, and so we could all stay engaged and focused and make better use of the time. If that is even considered a negative, then generally I think there were no real negatives. I do have one request: I hope the first 59 of us will be given priority in future workshops, which we hope will continue. Finally, we are more proud of you than you are of us, and I pray that God enables you to serve your country and your faith.

The content, organization, and discussion were more than wonderful. Heartfelt thanks. Everything was positive and I do not see any negatives at all. My suggestion for improvement is to discuss and present the work of the winning team at the end so that we can see what a correct feasibility study looks like and try to emulate it. ?

Positives: gaining experience from your experiences, practicing a group feasibility study, and discussing it unexpectedly with a random group, which makes a person evaluate themselves among others and increases self-confidence in many ways. In short, thank you, Abdullah Al-Salloum, and everyone who contributed. Positive negative: the time was tight for studies like these, but I still learned many things and have started preparing an actual project.

Positives: 1) the hall was spacious and the arrangements were outstanding; 2) the proper way to use the tool was clearly explained; 3) there were many positives that I cannot list them all. A thousand thanks, Mr. Abdullah. There were absolutely no negatives.

To begin with, whoever does not thank people does not thank God. Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who put effort into this workshop and gave us the chance to learn from specialists and experienced people. Truly, words of thanks are too shy to do you justice, but we pray that God rewards you with goodness. The idea of offering a feasibility study tool for free to the whole world is inspiring in itself, but offering a free workshop that also supports the proper use of the tool goes even further. It is deeply motivating and beyond the usual meaning of inspiration. The energy we came with was positive and encouraged giving, contribution, and making an impact. What I liked: 1) the organization of the segments, 2) the diversity of the speakers’ styles and depth of knowledge, 3) the spontaneous methodology, 4) openness to questions, 5) the presence of a case study, and 6) the comfortable venue. What I wish had happened: 1) doing a collective practical case with the instructor before splitting into independent groups, 2) showing an example of a completed feasibility study prepared using the tool and commenting on it, 3) going into more detail in the economic study, especially for service and non-profit projects, 4) providing a more detailed evaluation summary highlighting strengths and weaknesses in each group’s study, and 5) discussing one of the completed group studies with all participants to enrich the experience and reinforce the information. Finally, may God bless you and increase you in blessings and knowledge. Truly, what you do is great, and blessed is the one who spreads useful knowledge that is passed from one person to another. We are proud of you before the whole world!

Thank God, the workshop was full of useful positives, such as the spirit of cooperation that was clear within each group, as well as the simple and clear teaching style that made the idea of preparing the study easier to grasp. May God reward everyone who contributed to presenting this course so well.

The workshop was a successful experience both theoretically and practically. Negatives: 1) the workshop start time, and 2) the five-hour duration caused information overload. Positives: 1) applying what we learned on the first day, 2) teamwork, 3) sharing the instructors’ previous experiences, and 4) explaining feasibility studies in a simple way. Many thanks for the experience, effort, and organization.

The instructors were highly qualified academically and in terms of their CVs, and it was a good decision to have them lead the workshop. However, they seemed to enter the session somewhat improvisationally, without enough mental preparation or prepared academic content such as PowerPoint slides, which reduced the level of benefit. The timing and venue were excellent, and the reception was outstanding. Thank you for this personal effort, which we hope continues. The criticism mentioned above is only for improving future workshops ?

1) The workshop timing and duration were excellent. 2) Registration, invitation, and evaluation were excellent. 3) Time discipline was excellent. 4) The venue was excellent. 5) Dividing the workshop into short segments was excellent. 6) The instructors and style of dialogue were excellent. 7) The training style was excellent, with more practical than theoretical work. 8) The choice of topics was excellent, though it could still be developed. 9) Team members could be given 30 minutes to get to know each other before starting, without that time counting against the exercise. 10) Teams could be smaller, around five members, to increase effectiveness. 11) A case study for any project, even a hypothetical one, could be included. 12) A certain number of seats could be reserved for those actually working on feasibility studies for their projects so they can later be presented as examples of beneficiaries of the workshop. Note: the suggestions raised during the workshop could be extracted from the recorded video to improve the feasibility study tool.

Since the course was free, I would rate it as more than excellent. Thank you for the effort. I hope that in the future there will be longer workshops, even if they require a fee, that explain small business projects in detail, from choosing the idea to establishing the business. Thank you again :)

Peace be upon you. First, I would like to thank you and all the instructors who presented the course with you. Honestly, we benefited greatly from it. Overall, the course was well organized and comparable, in terms of benefit and information, to paid courses I have attended. Working in groups on the economic feasibility study was very useful and taught us teamwork. My only note is that it would have been better to present the case study and form the groups on the first day so we could work on the study at home and then meet on the second day to discuss the work, enter the data, and submit it, which would have given us more time to complete and discuss it. In the end, thank you very much for all the effort you made; you deserve a certificate of appreciation for what you give to society.

Positives: 1) teamwork was one of the most important factors in making this effort successful, as all groups became fully engaged in the challenge; 2) the automatic feasibility study tool being free is itself commendable, and offering a free workshop around it reflects true excellence; 3) in my opinion, one of the best parts of the workshop was presenting live examples of people who entered the field and are still striving to grow, such as Dr. Talal Al-Awadhi, Dr. Ali Al-Ansari, and the dedicated Sultan Al-Majroob. Negative: it was unfortunate that some accepted participants did not honor the attendance requirement, depriving others of the opportunity. I believe a symbolic fee could help prevent this in the future. Thank you, Mr. Abdullah Al-Salloum, for your high spirit and dedication to volunteer work in Arab society, and thanks to your honored guests and the technical team behind the scenes. Please accept my sincere regards.

Positives: 1) all the discussions were excellent, and the invited speakers were highly capable of delivering information; the diversity of information in the discussions went beyond what the tool itself covers and was very enriching. 2) The experiences of all the speakers were realistic, which made it easier for me to connect them to daily life. 3) The overall atmosphere of the workshop was comfortable; it was open and practical, and communication with the speakers was easy, especially with the second-day speakers, Abdullah Al-Salloum and Sultan Al-Majroob. Negatives: 1) the workshop was long—five hours—which is difficult during weekdays, so I suggest holding it on weekends. 2) The discussion circles were not separated from the parts of the tool. The discussions were enriching and related to the general themes of the study, but they did not contain an explanation of each part of the study. I suggest allocating time to explain the parts of the tool for non-specialists—the meaning of each part, how to obtain the information for each part, and how all parts connect to the concept of economic feasibility—then opening discussion for each section, whether organizational, economic, or market-related.

The workshop was very well organized. Questions were received with openness, and it was clear that the presenters genuinely loved helping and teaching. The idea of group work was very useful for us. The explanation was clear, but I could not fully grasp the organizational feasibility section; it would have been better if it had been explained in more detailed and precise terms. Thank you.

The diversity of the speakers’ backgrounds, presenting unconventional ideas to understand familiar concepts, sharing real experiences, applying and trying the tool, and working in groups with people of different backgrounds were all strong positives. The negatives were the very long hours, the lack of sequence and connection between ideas, the large number of participants for group work, and the limited time for post-application discussion. I suggest reducing the workshop hours and distributing them across more days.

Pros: Dr. Ali Al-Ansari’s attendance was distinctive and very beneficial. Cons: unfortunately, the explanation of the feasibility study tool was below expectations, and opening the floor for questions became the dominant feature of the workshop. In my view, the workshop lacked organization.

There were many positives, including the good choice of topic, its usefulness, the duration, the timing, the venue, and the instructors, who added a lot. The only negative was at the end of the event: we wished the closing had included correcting our mistakes by entering the data in front of us. This could perhaps be addressed through a video for additional benefit. My sincere thanks and appreciation for your valuable time and knowledge ?

Positives: 1) the workshop told real stories from the local market; 2) the doctor introduced a wonderful concept that honestly needs us to rethink many things in life; 3) the free discussion between Mr. Abdullah and the guests was very useful, and Abdullah asked questions that were already in our minds, as if he understood everyone in the hall; 4) the second day was very good because it was a practical application of what had been discussed on the first day. Negative: the projects were technical, and there was no option for each group to choose its own project. Note: I hope each group could be sent its shortcomings and its points of strength and weakness in the application, at least by email, for maximum benefit. This is only a suggestion, and thank you very much. May it be counted in your good deeds.

Positives: we were able to understand how to enter information into the feasibility study program easily, and we met people who share the same interest. Negatives: they are barely worth mentioning, but we hope future training will be longer and more comprehensive, even if we have to bear part of the cost.

The instructors were excellent, especially Mr. Sultan Al-Majroob. The practical application on the second day greatly helped reinforce the information. The workshop greatly simplified feasibility studies, the organization was excellent, and the information was very valuable. My note is that it might have been better to make it one theoretical day and one practical day, since many users lacked the experience needed to enter data accurately, or perhaps make it three days: theory, practice, and a test. Thank you very much; we enjoyed the workshop.

The lectures were very valuable and highly beneficial, and the workshop was also excellent and useful. My only note is that it would have been better if the practical application had first been done collectively before the competition, so that we could actually see how prices are calculated, how the market is studied using numbers and calculations, and how the required ratios are derived. Thank you for this work, and may God reward you eventually.
